Courtney & Sev took out the Family Bathroom win on The Block 2026, with Faucet Strommen’s Vara Collection in Discovery Bronze featured throughout. We take a closer look at the tapware behind the winning room.
Courtney & Sev’s Family Bathroom is an exercise in curves, warmth, and restraint.
From the rounded timber cabinetry and oval mirrors to the freestanding bath and softly draped curtain, there’s a strong sense of continuity throughout the room. Against these softer forms, Faucet Strommen’s Vara Collection in Discovery Bronze introduces a more architectural line.
And it’s not confined to one feature. Vara runs throughout the bathroom — across the double vanity, bath, shower, and accessories — creating a common thread from one zone to the next.
At the vanity
The double vanity is perhaps the clearest expression of the Vara design language.
Two wall-mounted Vara tap sets sit directly beneath the mirrors, pairing a long curved outlet with the collection’s distinctive Fin controls. Mounted on a single backplate, the tapware has a strong horizontal presence against the pared-back wall.
The warmth of Discovery Bronze also plays naturally against the timber cabinetry, stone benchtop and soft neutral tones surrounding it.
It’s a relatively small detail within a large vanity, but one that gives the space definition.
A bath worth looking twice at
Beside the freestanding bath, Courtney & Sev specified the Vara Fin Wall Bath Tap Set with Handshower Kit in Discovery Bronze.
Here, Vara becomes more sculptural.
The long outlet projects over the bath while the integrated handshower adds the functionality you’d expect from a family bathroom. Everything is brought together on a single streamlined backplate, keeping the installation visually clean against the large-format stone.
The Fin handles bring another layer of detail. Slim and tactile, they create a subtle contrast against the curved bath and surrounding drapery.
Into the shower
The same material language continues into the walk-in shower.
Discovery Bronze appears across the overhead shower, wall arm, controls and handshower, set against floor-to-ceiling stone.
Rather than introducing another finish or design language, Courtney & Sev have repeated the same material throughout. It gives the bathroom consistency while allowing the architecture and material palette to remain the focus.
Down to the details
That repetition extends beyond the tapware.
Matching towel rails in Discovery Bronze appear alongside the bath, carrying the finish through to the functional details of the room.
It’s a small move, but an important one. When tapware, shower fittings and accessories all speak the same design language, the result feels resolved from every angle.
Why Vara works here
Vara was designed around a balance of strong geometry and refined proportions.
Courtney & Sev’s choice of the Fin handle makes that particularly apparent. Its slim profile introduces sharper lines into a bathroom dominated by curves — from the mirrors and basins to the cabinetry and bath.
Then there’s Discovery Bronze. Against the bathroom’s limestone tones, pale timber and warm whites, the finish brings depth without becoming a high-contrast feature.
The result earned Courtney & Sev the Family Bathroom win on The Block 2026 — and gave Vara a starring role in one of the season’s standout spaces.
